Cayenne uses MLS(multi-layer steel) gaskets, which is what racers use. These things rarely ever blow up. Remove belly pan and put on lift while running to do some serious detective work...

The scary thing is buying a premium brand vehicle that requires extensive mechanical knowledge/ability to maintain and/or wallet capable of maintaining it and you don't know what a heater core is/does. You must fall in the latter category. It's not a bad thing but you would be better served all around by understanding vehicle component basics.

I remember some similar setup was in Mercedes engine - the gasket was not blown, but the gasket was corroded because of use of unapproved coolant that lacked some rust inhibitors.
