Default Cayenne Turbo misfire

After replacing my cracked turbo, I am still getting these errors and a misfire.

The car has been twice to my local stealership and both times they didn't bother to correctly diagnose it. They just looked at the coil packs and said they are old, need changing. However they are new old stock and the fault does NOT move if I switch the coil packs with known good firing cylinders. The fault is always with cylinder 3.

Could this be injectors or something more ominous, eg low compression or valve problems?

Bosch Digital Motor Electronics 7.1.1

Current Fault Codes

P0016:

Crankshaft Position. Camshaft Pos. Correlation Bank 1 Sensor A - Value below lower limit value, test conditions are not-completed, fault is not currently active and is not causing a DTC light

P0300:

Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected - Implausible signal, test conditions are not-completed, fault is not currently active and is not causing a DTC light

P0303:
Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected - Implausible signal, test conditions are not-completed, fault is not currently active and is not causing a DTC light

Have you tried to replace the crankshaft position sensor? Looks like to me that the codes are pointing to it. All the other codes may be a secondary effect from it not working right.

Moving your thread to the Cayenne forum where far more people will see it.

Good luck!

Hello
New to the forum and new to the Porsche world
Already have issues with my cayenne
Its 2005 turbo.
Have exactly the same issue as above. Misfire cylinder 3, got codes P0021 - Intake camshaft position timing, P0300 - Random/multiple misfire detected, P0303 - Misfire cylinder 3
When codes cleared, car runs smooth and nicely but only for 1 to 2 rides (aprox. 30min) then goes back. And the codes are back again. With this issue active, it drives kinda sluggish, throttle response is much worse compering when codes cleared
Spark plugs are new. Coils aftermarket also replaced. Noticed, that the 3rd cylinder coil connector has broken off securing clip, but couldnt this cause bad connection leading to misfire?
What else to check?

What brand of coils were used? I have heard only Porsche or OEM Beru are preferred. I would first swap the cylinder 3 coil with another cylinder and see if the code moves cylinders. Then, if that doesn't work, swap the bank 1 and bank 2 camshaft position sensors and see if the code moves to the other side. The OE Bosch cam position sensors are about $80 online if you need to replace, and do both.

i am pretty sure your timing chains need doing. It’s a major engine out job. Cannot be done in the car. However switch the coil with non-misfiring cylinder (cyl 2), switch the spark plug with an another different cylinder (eg cyl 1) then clear codes. Drive until your issue returns then check which cylinder misfires. If still cyl 3, it likely means a timing chain job.
