Back-up lighting seems very dim

Back-up lighting seems very dim
Not sure whether there is an issue with car or just not used to a lower level of lighting /visibility at night.... '12 Cayenne. When in reverse the white LED back up lights are on and appear bright to the eye.... but when looking in the rear view mirror to back up seems all is very dark and difficult to see.
