Default Hate to ask: Mobil 1 viscosity

Tried a search but no luck. Manual says 0w40, 5w40 or 5w50.

Any idea what ships from the factory?

Any problems mixing the above?

Benefits of using one vs another (turbo, warm climate)?

Thanks!

threads on Roadfly indicate Mobil 1 - 0/40W. Previous to that I didn't know they made it.

Porsche fills it with the 1 of those 3 viscosities that's OK for all temps, 0W-40. I MIGHT use 5W-40 or 5W-50 in the very hot desert summers we have in Phoenix and after the engine is in its third summer, but 'till then, it's 0W-40 for me.

Altho some will disagree, there's no problems with mixing oils of same brands, type, and similar viscosities, but I wouldn't mix oils of 2 steps different. IOW, I'd mix otherwise-identical oils of 0 and 5 base viscosities or 2 of 10 and 15 viscosities, but personally I wouldn't mix 0 and 10 or 5 and 15, for instance, except in an emergency.

In this case I give the factory full credit for knowing what clearances the engine is designed with and what oils fit those clearances, so I'm staying with what Porsche says is OK for all temps.

I expect you'll get more info here; I'll enjoy reading it.
