To Bose or not

If you're set on not touching it (aftermarket,) it's worth holding out for a Burmeister if quality is important. The Bose is really nothing special but the base unit is downright bad, especially considering how well sound-dampened these cayennes are from engine and road noise.

I agree that somehow the VAG Bose systems seem to be better. Not sure why but even my daughters 01 A6 4.2 sounds better than my 04 Cayenne Turbo. The CTT sounds fine, mind you. I'm happy with it.
I would wait for the burmeister system if you can. I'm also one that does not like after market stereo's. I prefer the factory look.

My QC15 headphones have saved my life as a plane passenger! The best out there by anyone's measurement. .
Love Bose stuff too. I can't afford anything way up stream from here, so Bose fits in nicely.

Our A6 is light years ahead of our CS on sound...of course our A6 is only two years old, but it sounds incredible.

The Bose is surprisingly bad, but the biggest bang for your buck is upgrading the tweeters. A few posts down, you'll see that it's possible to swap the Bose tweeters for the JBL Professional tweeters used by Ferrari with a direct plug-and-play setup.

Well I guess I'll get to hear a one of the systems next week. I got to take my GT3 in for a few things and I request a cayenne as a loaner. I kinda hope it has the stock system so I can see how weak or ok it is.

Well I'm driving a cayenne as a loaner with a stock system and it isn't bad but would like to hear a Bose now. Disclaimer my Gt3 sound package plus is weak compared to many so I don't listen to a powerful system normally.

So when I'm driving the 964T, I never listen to the Blaupunkt. The engine is the only thing I want to hear. I would not expect much from your GT3 sound system, but do you really care how that one sounds?
For me, with my 958, it's a whole different driving experience I'm after. I'm constantly pushing buttons, lowering / raising my AS, and messing with susp stiffness. And if you're like me ( 'ol head banger from the 80's) and crank the sound system constantly, the Burmester (not Burmeister) is mandatory. Even though friends would accuse me of blowing out the eardrums back in the day, my hearing is still excellent, and if you have any musical background & can hear a broad spectrum, then please go listen to the Burmester. It is worth every penny (but of course I bought my 2012 as a 3-yr old CPO). But it was high on my list (along with PDCC & PTV), so finding the right CTT took some time (half a yr).
So in the end, it really depends on YOU, and your preferences,... AND your priority list of what you MUST have, verses the "nice to have" options. Rank them all out. See where the sound system lands as far as priority, and rank it into your overall price point (willingness to pay).
Let us know what you think after you listen to all three.
