Then I would remove the fill plug and have the tranny fluid ready in an oil hand syringe. When it got to 39C I would pump it in till it flowed out the fill hole. I would keep flowing a little more as it got to 40C and I would put the plug back in. Not like the old way at all, but it is what it is.
yeah, it's not too bad.

on other sealed trannys they go by "fill in what comes out"

but here there is quite some spill involved.

IMHO the durametric is not essential, if you figure out a way to put a thermometer in the oil

the refill with pump and hook works better than through gravity and a fill hose.

Is this an alternative to getting the Revmax valvebody?

excuse my ignorance but what symptoms would you experience that would lead you to need a shift kit?

Very nice writeup. I did the same job a couple years ago. Note that in addition to this writeup, you can find the repair manual for our transmissions online. That was a nice reference for torque values, etc. Separating the valve body halves is not for the faint of heart - - there are lots of little check valves in there. But it's doable if you're careful and meticulous. Cleanliness is next to godliness, but note that the VB will leak ATF for eternity. I did all my work on a fresh aluminum drip sheet to keep the mess and parts contained.

I installed this kit a few months ago, and while it helped my 2-3 shift, it made the 5-4 shift much worse. It was worth a shot, but I think I will get a new or rebuilt VB and just swap it out.

What were your observations post install? Does the car shift better?

As I mentioned, in some gears it helped (particularly the 2-3 shift), but now the 5-4 downshift is worse. Given the amount of time it took to do the install, I don;t think it's worth the gamble. If I could re-do given what I know now, I'd skip it and just get the rebuilt VB from RevMax or someone else. I think you can swap out the VB in about 4 hours start to finish. It literally took me 1 full day on the bench to do the TransGo kit. Lots of little parts and because i'd never done a VB before, I was extra careful and slow.

Do you have a source?

Cool article I found searching a bit. Though this is focused on the 09G, they say much of it holds true for the 09D:

Take a look at the pdf I attached, and the adjustment screw reference.
Unfortunately you need to open her up again.
