Funnel piece under valve cover for 957's
Hi all,
I was replacing the valve cover gasket yesterday on my 957 CTT as it was leaking oil around the cover.
I took off the driver's side valve cover and noticed it was extremely hard to get back in due to the power steering and PDCC reservoir's metal pipes being in the way.
As a result, the metal plate with the 3 funnels that feed into the air-and-oil separator on top of the valve cover was damaged. One of the tangs that holds it in snapped off. I tried to have someone weld it back and discovered it was magnesium and he couldn't weld it. So, I called up the dealer and they don't sell the part on it's own, it comes with the valve cover which costs $500.
Since all this does is suck up the air and oil from further down in the head, would it be detrimental to run the engine without that funnel piece attached to the valve cover? I noticed that the 955's don't have this feature, so I wanted to ask before buttoning the valve cover back on.
Thanks in advance!

Hello, are you referring to this piece?
I have an extra if you still need it; no charge. Let me know.
In keeping with this part (948.105.335.00) not being sold separately, the gasket that accompanies the piece is not sold separately either, so you will have to use some gasket maker to seal it to the valve cover before you snap it in.
