How do you get that top cover off carefully and safely? please.

2 flat head screw drivers and I felt that any more and the cover would break?

Get four tiny Jeweller's flathead drivers under a tab... once 4 are popped - the diaphragm cap comes off:

Silicone and hot used motor oil are not compatible. The silicone will break down. Whatever is used to make a new diaphram could be sucked into the drivers side turbo if it fails. Heluva risk for 50$.

Yep, my Vanos-BMW diaphragm split in less than 2 years. Get OEM-compatible....

Aren't you referring to the AOS diaphragm, not the PCV? I believe the PCV feeds into the AOS...or vice versa but I could be wrong.

As an FYI i just saw that you can buy the cap, diaphragm, and spring assembly on Amazon for $60. I know my AOS cap got a little messed up last time I took it apart so I'll prob go with that in the future.

The amazon one.... the black cap doesn't have clearance for the tube that comes out the side.. so just use your old black cap like I did and it works fine.
