Two days ago the air coming out of the side air vents in the dash stopped working. The center dash air vents were still working fine. Then yesterday the center dash vents stopped working as well. There is still air coming from the feet and top dash vents.
I've tried opening and closing the vents individually. When I enable the center air from the dash button I can hear the fan blowing harder but there's no air.
Has anyone see this before? Maybe a fuse or door relay in the air box?
Sounds like the servo motors that operate the flaps failed. If you have Durametric, you can run an output test on each servo to make sure it's going through the full range. If you don't have a durametric, then it's going to be a gamble. Though, it's always pretty obvious which flap motor has failed since you have some pretty clear symptoms.
It's not a fun DIY, but you can doit. Lower dash, stereo, need to come out.
Yeah - that's kinda odd. But, there is only one reason air doesn't reach vents - the flaps aren't opening. So, either the flap motors failed (common), or something is wrong in the HVAC head unit (never heard of this happening).
