Cigarette power stays on after turning off car?
I connected a dashcam to the cigarette lighter hole, but noticed the power doesn't shutoff when I turned the car off which leaves my dashcam on. Anyway to change this behavior?

No, the center console lighter power is constant, by default. I converted mine into a dual USB charger, replacing the cigarette lighter with a mini dual-port 2.1A USB. The "power on" illumination is seen even when the ashtray is closed.

Just went over the same thing. The 2 footwell, cig lighter, and the back cig lighter I think too, all stay powered. The 2 in the trunk, power off when the truck is off, go figure.

Hmm this old post seems to state that the one under the passenger's side glove compartment does turn off once the interior lights shut off:

I have a 2009 if that makes a difference.
I do see someone said this:
I use that cigarette lighter plug under glove compartment for my dashcam. It's switched, but NOT by ignition. It will stay on for a few minutes after ignition is turned off, but it WILL turn off.
I never waited that long

Meanwhile, in the 2017 GTS it will automatically 'interrupt' power to the outlets after 30 minutes. But only if the items are turned-on when the ignition is switched off. As in, you left something plugged in, drawing power and turned off the car.
I don't know if 'interrupt' means a temporary toggle or if it's a total power-off until the next time the car is started. Nor did the dealer folks.
That and, according to the dealer service personne,l the power management system will 'shut down the car' if battery voltage drops below a certain point. This, presumably, to avoid damaging the batteries from excessive drain.
For the curious, attached is a shot of the 12v outlet under the glovebox, taken with passenger door opened. I'm sure the OCD folks out there will immediately notice the labeling is oriented upside-down...

I happened to be in the car yesterday, waiting for my son's music practice to end, and using a tablet plugged into the armrest USB socket. Seemed to be about a half-hour with the ignition off that I heard a faint click and the outlet stopped providing a charge to the tablet. I unplugged and re-plugged the cord and the power did not return. So it doesn't just 'interrupt' the accessory socket, it completely powers it off. For how long, I don't know. I'd assume it would remain off until the ignition was started again. I wasn't sitting there long enough to see if another 30 minutes would reset anything or return power.

Just hardwire the dashcam to switched power in the fuse box. That way you can hide the wires as well. Having wires all over the place drives me nuts!!! I have a V1 and dash cam up top by the rearview mirror. It took all of 20 minutes to do.

Actually, the shutoff timer is pretty useful. As yet I've not found any fuses that follow it. But it's hard to tell which fuses might as having the door open seems to sometimes get in the way of the process. Given the 30 minute delay it's a bit tedious to figure out.
As for hardwiring, yes, that's certainly an option. There are even direct-wire USB socketed power supplies. So you don't have to do something rather clunky like wire up a cigarette socket and then plug an adapter into it. I've got two such devices, one powering the dashcam (from the right fuse panel) and one powering a phone cradle on the driver side. The driver side one leeches power from the fuse used for the rearview mirror. It's switched on/off with the engine being running (not just the first turn of the key). For now I've got the dashcam leeching power 24x7 as doesn't draw an excessive amount.
