Default Advice on used 04

I am looking for help/info on an 04 Cayenne S. I have owned and run 944 and 928's for many years but don't trust myself with the newer cars. while out looking for a car for my wife we came across a 04 Cayenne S. And I have a question on it. It has only what I can say is a ticking but not a valve issue. and of course the seller is stating this is a common and non issue to the 04-05 Cayenne's. I have 0% with these newer V8's and looking for some en-site. It is faint and on;y at low RPM's. Thanks in advance for your time and help. (Sorry in advance i will be posting this in other places to look for help)

I had that same concern when I bought my 04 S. Really fast ticking that can only be heard when outside. You can hear it a little bit more when hood is up. It's sort of a high pitched ticking sound, not a knocking sound.

From what I researched on here, it does sound like a normal thing. Not everyone has it, but quite a few do. Basically it's noisy fuel injectors.

It is 100% normal. I have a 2004 S, owned for 5 years or so.

You might want to do a search on "scored cylinders Porsche Cayenne S". There are a lot of "S" models that have experienced scored cylinders and needed a complete engine replacement. This issue seems to take place on cars who have lived in cold climates for majority of their life. Good luck!

First time poster, but is it possible that the ticking is from a loose timing chain due to a loose timing chain tensioner?

I had that issue with my Mini Cooper that ticked
