Default Transfer case servo motor

So I have been getting the 4 wheel drive faulty and PSM failure message more frequent lately. I changed the battery about a month ago hoping it was just the battery, but looks like it's probably the servo motor.

I have a 04 S with 67k miles on it. Been looking around and it looks like I can get a new one for around ~$500, or possibly a donor one ~$200. Looks to be a simple fix and will be doing the work myself.

Is there anything else I need to when swapping it out? I've read where some people also had to swap out the module so they match? Not sure what that means? Once the motor is swapped, do I need to take it in to the dealership to reprogram anything?

Thanks in advance!

The two components you listed are the ones needed. There are a bunch of threads on this that helped me resolve the two messages for good on my '04 CS. See below for threads of interest.

I went the used route. Sourced a servo from an '06 plus controller from the same wreck and transplanted into our patient. Worked like a charm, no more pissed off dash lights and also there's less binding in the front diff when turning sharply (parking lots, u-turns)

Suncoast has a 'kit' that includes both a brand new servo along with a controller for a pricey, but guaranteed result here: https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/955PTM.html

Servo Motor: 95562460101 / 0AD341601C
Controller: 0AD927755AD - (A must if you are getting a new servo or a junkyard replacement from above)

Not as much info on the install of the controller. It's under the passenger seat. Remove the seat (just tilt and push back towards rear, no need to remove that beast from the car) and it's in the carrier there. Once you see it, it's pretty easy to figure out how to remove and install the new one.

Thanks. I'll take a look at those threads. Good to know about the controller. Once you installed both the motor and controller, did you have to get anything coded or was it just plug and play? I wonder what would need to be done if the motor and controller were sourced from different years?

No coding or visit to the dealer required after the parts were replaced.

As long as you get the newer servo and the controller from a MY '05 or later (with the part numbers from above), you should be good.
