Default 04' CTT potential purchase

Hi all, this winter made me realize how much I missed my ctt. I'm checking out this 04' CTT tomorrow morning from a private seller. I don't have access to Carfax so I was wondering if anyone could run it (pm me or email it, williamr 91 at aol.com)

VIN: WP1AC29P34LA93364

Mod's if this is against the rules, please delete.

Thanks in advance!

Well just got back from checking it out. The paint is perfect, wheel wells are clean as a whistle, interior in good order. 141k miles, rebuilt turbos last year, coolant pipes. tranny seal fix, cardon shaft done (twice already), starter replaced, new brakes (pads and rotors), a set of 21 in summer wheels and 18' stock with snow tires.
Fabspeed high flow cats,
secondary cat delete
lowering links
Records from day 1 back in 03'
He had a fresh carfax waiting for me.

I'm thinking I am going to pull the trigger, just need to sell the damn Mini S.

He wants 10,500, but then said 12,500 so idk if he was talking blue book range or what, but either way I feel its a great deal if its 10,500.

Thanks again VIP

Yes Lox it does, I can't believe I paid nearly that much for my 04' cooper s with 101k, yeah a lot less miles, but not much value compared to this specific CTT.

IDK why I said back in 03' earlier, I meant 04' it was built in 12/2003 so it is a very early 04'.

If I could have found one in that condition and for that price when I was looking for my 09 Turbo S, I would have gone for it, just for the sheer value. I had a very short time frame (about a week) to find the right one though, so I had to pony up for one newer.

You can't go wrong for that price. There is nothing more fun while being more practical than a CTTS for that price.

Miles are a little high but it sounds well serviced. If it is 10k I don't see this deal lasting too long so hopefully you can get your car sold fast.

Sounds a good buy !

I just nabbed an absolute bargain here in the UK too.

late 2003 CTT in Titan Metalic, 122k with full OPC service history (and recent service done)

20" sport techno's with new tyres
air suspension
fully loaded
all the usual suspects been replaced under extended warranty.

Paid £8000 which is roughly $12k, freshly valeted right before collection and just filled up with £110 ($166) worth of SUL. He then posted me a brand new set of front discs and pads too.

Hopefully you will be as lucky

Wow, its crazy how the early CTTs have come down in price. I initially thought of upgrading but I cannot justify selling mine for 15-20% of the original MSRP! These are great SUVs BUT very expensive to repair. Just did brakes, oil change, rear hatch, and other minor stuff. Spent $3k...

Well looked at it again last night, along with another test drive & ride, a bit longer distance this time. I really want this one, it is so well sorted and I barely believe the miles. However, I got a text a few hours later saying there is an oil leak by the Timing covers....I'm thinking he may mean cam covers (kind of hope so, looks not too bad)?

Any info on Timing cover gasket replacements? I cannot find much at all.

There isn't actually a timing cover gasket - at least not like you would have on a car with a timing belt.

It's probably the valve cover gaskets - which will leak over time. It's an easy DIY job. The other common leak is the charge pipe o-ring, which is located near the front, bottom of the motor. Another cheap DIY.

Yes I am hoping its the valve cover ones, the seller is a very nice guy, a bit overly concerned about minor things. The bezel around the rear heated seats is scratched a bit and he pointed it out like a big deal, and there is a scratch on the front bumper (lower part) from the owner before him...He also didn't want to get it dirty. Aside from the two cosmetic items above, this one is concourse clean IMO.

With that said, I haven't seen the leak - yet, but I'm hoping he is exaggerating a bit, he says its not the valve covers due to where the area looks like it has oil on it. I'm thinking it could be some oil spill from the last oil change that just hasn't been washed or burnt off. He has put 8k miles on it in the last 5 years, which makes me think this...maybe it's just wishful thinking. He got a dealer est and they say about 3k to do the chain guides and fix the leak (ie new covers and seals)

No codes or anything and it comes with duremetric.

Things that have been done and have records of.

All maintenance has records.
-coolant pipes, fittings, etc
-starter
-battery (3 years ago, kept on a tendar)
-cardon shaft
-brakes, pads, rotors, etc
-turbos rebuilt by ihi
-fuel pumps replaced
-fuel injectors mapped and cleaned

Go fast/fun bits
-Fabspeed tune
-IPD intake plenum
-Fabspeed high flow cats
-Secondary cat bypass pipes
-IHI Turbos a bit larger housing, I think is what he said
-EVOMS CAI

I think that is all, but I'm sure I'm missing something. He wants $10,500 (sorry I know most of this is repeat) it has 141,xxx miles, no accident history and clean title. Fresh set of winter I-pike tires on the 18 stockers and 20in wheel/tires.

With the timing thing done (if that is in fact what it needs) I'm looking at about 14k all in...I want to offer 10k, but I honestly thin 10,500 is a GREAT DEAL so I have a hard time low balling. KBB states it is in fair purchase range, but we all know cars like these are hard to look at KBB and such for.
