Default Low Speed Lag (sorry to bring it up again)

I was talking to my dealer (old established) today when I picked my car up from service.

I was discussing various topics and this subject came up.

He said he noticed it (the lag)when the first Cayenne arrived. Concerned, he called his friend the Cayenne project manager. He was told that there is a programmed lag designed for second gear starts in auto on loose ground or snow to counteract torque.

Now I do not see this lag on mine but I raised it as he was interested what issues had been identified.

Anyone got any contacts that can check this out ?

That's interesting, does this mean it should not do it if you select "sport?" That will be #20 on my list of service items.

There is no lag if you (as stated on another board) drive it like you stole it!

Mud...
Starting out in 2nd has been a "feature" of the Tiptronic system since day one...
the "tips" are all "fuzzy logic" controlled, thus the 2nd gear start can be overridden by "driving it like you stole it".....
Somewhere around here I've about 80 pages from Bosch on the tip system. I'll see if I can find the relevant sections.

I understand what you are saying, but I had never heard that the lag (not second gear start) had been programmed in the help the 4WD system in potential sliding situations. i.e. coming off a corner in the snow in second (not standing start) the torque is so high it would lose traction if the peddle is to sensitive.

Now does that not sound like all the descriptions we have been reading by the non felons among us.

Say Mike, what about this adaptive driving issue that came up on earlier posts? Could this have anything to do with it?

??? Which "lag" are you describing, then? I've not felt much engine lag in either S or TT, but there is a noticable spool up time for the trans..... or am I still off base?

Hi Jeff. I don't see it much, but many have described a dead peddle effect mostly on cornering, almost like the wrong gear is engaged takes 2 seconds or so for the pepper to get moving.
