If you ask me anything over 15k is total waste on a car. Get a Honda civic and drive it till' the wheels fall off but most of us like to show a little flare with what we drive.

Some people really hate to buy the cayenne because the Tuareg is very close in performance. I think some of the people here hate to drop 50k on a vw, not that there is anything wrong with that. Like I said before to each his own. Now if I could just figure out what car to buy next.

BTW: I like the 928 and the 944 myself

Do you really want to wait in line for service behind a bunch of bug-owners? I do understand VW dealers offer courtesy vans instead of loan cars....brings back those grade school "carpool" memories....

Slightly off topic but, unfortunately my dealer is also a bug dealer along with Audi. The service department will give no priority on loaners to Porsche owners...It's first come first serve. I have to call my salesperson ahead of time in order to set up a loaner...The service idiots are like talking to a wall and yes, when I spend 70k on a vehicle, I want service and now without being treated the same way as the bottom feeding vw's in the 17k range. My dealer sux including his facility. I wish I lived near a dealer who had a shiny new Porsche designed building and treated their customers the same way. They sort of tarnish my squeaky clean Porsche experience... I must be a snob!!! Ahhh, I feel better now...I needed to purge. Thank you

To rationalize it all find the september issue of TOP GEAR, the uk pubicaton. ( it has a grey chrylser crossfire on the cover if you can still find the issue)

It has a relatively unbiased comparo b/n the X5 4.4, Range Rover, Cayenne S, and Toureg. ...good stuff

You guys really like the Toureg styling better than the Cayenne???? The Toureg looks very conservative-VW- run-of-the-mill-SUV-like to me ....... Cayenne styling is growing on me everyday and the general public is absolutely crazy about it. I can't drive my 955 anywhere without drawing attention and positive comments.

Also, I was a critic of the Cayenne when it first appeared. But after test driving and now owning one: don't think SUV - think 4-door successor to the 928.

Not me, the Cayenne is the real deal...handling, performance, build and comfort. I would never spend 50K on a bloated Passat look alike...Besides, the Cayenne is a Porsche!!!! Through and Through. What more need be said???

Don't get "Top Gear" (a publication of the BBC).
Really don't care if they (or any other pub.) like it or not. I like the Cayenne, and don't really care for the Toureg.
My question back to those who say "you won't really go offroad" thus it's a useless attribute, I say "do you really go 160 MPH in your Porsche?
sigh,
J
