Default Too good to be true?

This seller has a transmission filter kit, supposedly genuine Porsche, for $70.

Should I jump on this, or is there no way this can be OEM?

The seller has great reviews concerning return shipping for dissatisfaction, so I bought it.

Will report back when it comes in...

It is the fluid that is expensive, and looks like it is missing parts http://www.ecstuning.com/Porsche-200...ion/ES2738993/

Yeah I know, but ECS's genuine kit is still $110 + shipping whereas this is $69 shipped.

and looks like it is missing parts http://www.ecstuning.com/Porsche-200...ion/ES2738993/
The only parts it doesnt seem to include from their kit is the fluid and the drain/fill plugs.

Do you need to replace the plugs?

I like to replace plugs because they always seem to get wrecked at the worst possible time. I used everything I got in the box. I also like the Idea of the Red Line fluid.
Does your kit come with the gasket spacers? I did not see those in the picture .. but they may be already installed in the rubber.

I would never do this without at least a spare drain plug on hand. The tranny drain plug is very weak, and I even stripped the threads off of one retightening it to the correct torque with a torque wrench.

You're forgetting the fluid. Not sure if you've priced out how much fluid is, but that ECS kit is the best deal around. It will cost you $103 just to buy that redline D4 fluid - not including shipping. At that point, you're getting the filter kit for 70 bucks.

If you buy genuine Porsche fluid - you're going to be up in the hundreds. It's pretty hard to beat ECS pricing, even if you're resourceful.

I'm inclined to trust ECS. I've ordered "OE" parts from amazon, and the parts arrived packaged in generic boxes without any stamping on them. When I questioned it, they explained that they purchase in bulk and that they don't arrive in individual boxes. There are *tons* of cheap, counterfeit parts on Amazon.

The only time I purchase parts from Amazon is when the seller is the actual manufacturer. Like - for bulbs or something - I would only buy from the actual company that makes them. Some much crap on Amazon.

Honestly, if you care so little about your transmission that you can't justify spending an extra 30 bucks on a filter that you'll change once in 50-100K miles, then I'm inclined to think you're driving the wrong vehicle. We're talking about the amount of cash that's the equivalent of one breakfast meal in 5 years. *shakes head*

It's just bonkers what Porsche charges for that fluid.

Whoa, easy there

1. Worst case is that this kit is not genuine Porsche and I have to hassle with a return. From the company reviews, this is a relatively smooth transaction.

2. The ECS Redline kit is not genuine Porsche either...that is unless they are charging about $40 for the fluid. This means anyone who opts for that kit is putting a generic filter kit on their vehicle. Are they driving the wrong vehicle?

The only reason I found this kit on Amazon is because I was trying to research if anyone had problems in the long run with using an aftermarket kit such as the "discount" ECS one.

Furthermore, if this Amazon kit is not as advertised, my plan is to get the genuine Porsche kit from ECS for the exact "why risk your transmission for $30" reason you stated...so put that in your pipe and smoke it

The tranny kit assembled by ECS is a Meyle filter, and I'm pretty sure Meyle makes the OEM porsche filter. I have no problem buying from the actual OEM instead of through Porsche.
