Default Brake fluid level

I am pulling my hair out for the last hour or two! Did a brake bleed on Cayenne (2011 Turbo) - one of Calipers had air. Everything by the book with Motive bleeder.

So after I was done, I started the car and for "Brake Fuid Level" message on the dash. Checked the probe, and it was touching the Max line. So I sucked out a bit with a syringe to put it exactly in the middle. Start the engine - same message. I kept removing 10 ml and starting again till it was a bit below the "low" mark, and still same result. WTH?

Am I measuring it correctly? Does the cap have to be fully screwed in for measuring level (the probe is on the cap)? Or do I need to re-set the computer somewhere?

I bled brakes on my other cars many times and never had to deal with this nonsense... It's just bizarre.

Bump. Any suggestions? Don't have time to take it to a mechanic, and seems silly - it's such a simple thing (in all other cars).
