Well, it seems like I might be SOL with the applying the flex tube to my 2014? Right?...I haven't inspected it yet though. Probably got to go with the bypass, in which case I'd better make sure I've got the preferred tips in place. Anyone got any thoughts/ideas for a cheap mod for it? Also, thoughts on lowering the suspension? Just to obviously look a bit lower. They seem to sit too high.

I did this today and WOW, what a change and what a smile in my face. Definately a must.
Anyone doing a 04 CS will find the little tube on both sides as I did and by the way I saw in a youtube video that these are water which I understand would work with the vaccum generated by the exhaust gases passing around but now thats covered. Is there any possible drawback on this?

In an earlier post, someone did this on their 08 S. The problem with 957 models is that the little tubes that sticks out of the muffler are curbed upwards so you cannot fit a straight pipe, or find a tight fit. But apparently it works with 1-7/8" flex tubes.

6 months later after installing steel flex pipe, 2 1/4 ID into my 955 Turbo muffler, I can see broken and corroded flex pipe making its way out the exhaust tip, on the passenger side. So as some others have mentioned, this is NOT a permanent solution. The corrosion and Im sure vibration break down the flex pipe. Originally I wanted to use SS flex pipe, but its a little harder to come by, and Im still not sure it would hold up to the vibration.

I ordered up some straight 304 SS tubing, 2.25 outside diameter, 0.049" wall gauge as the next size up, 2.5 OD is likely going to be too big, based on the 2.25 ID flex pipe fitting just about perfect, likely having an OD of 2.35 - 2.4". Ill cut it to length (18" or so), and I will flare the ends slightly to fit snug if needed. 0.049" wall gauge was the thinnest I could find to maximize flow. Although a 2.25 ID diameter pipe would be ideal, so the OD is like the flex pipe at 2.35 to 2.4", I could not find any, all are specd OD, and in 1/4" increments.

I will report back how this works.

Can You take pictures looking inside at the rear muffler. I took my exhaust tips off but there was no way to just slide a straight pipe in the turbo muffler.

A few things:

• 957's based on above comments, have a curve in the pipe from the muffler to the tip, so straight pipe cant work
• on 955's, will have to drop the muffler otherwise the lower rear valance will be in the way, with the flex pipe, you can bend it a bit when feeding it in.
• there is a small torodial shapped object in the path, which needs to be cut off and removed.

Otherwise its a straight shot, see some of the pics above.

Yeah, all those things accounted for, the inside piping inside the muffler wasn't straight, it made a curve almost instantly and I couldn't see inside like in the pictures in this thread. I'll attack it again at some point and take pictures of what I'm talking about.

Would like to do this to my 2004 CS but its illegal In Cali to bypass the muffler.
I am glad to hear that it is quiet until you press the gas though. Just what I am looking for.

Correct hopsis, you must have a 957, right?

Post #101 above covered this, and shows the picture of what you are describing is an issue on 957s in attempting to do this mod, so its limited to 955's unless you can feed the flex pipe in there.
