The $20k Cayenne Search Commences

If you only want to swap the head unit, then you should stick with the Becker.
FWIW: I wouldn't worry too much about returning the radio to stock before selling. It's not like radios are expensive, or that the Becker is a great radio, or that Cayennes are collectibles that have to remain stock to retain their value (HA HA!).

The fiber optic "MOST RING" only runs from the amp to the head unit(for the needs of this conversation). The wires to the Bose speakers are normal analog wires. The big issues is that Bose doesn't publish the ohm rating of their speakers so most people assume it will sound like crap if you hook up a normal 4ohm car amp to the Bose speakers. Who knows?
I just bought a Mercedes Sprinter and it has a pair of Bose outdoor home speaker hooked up to the jvc head unit. And actually sounds pretty good(for a cargo van with only 2 speakers)
To my knowledge nobody here has ever tried just hooking an aftermarket stereo straight to the Bose speakers (or through an aftermarket amp) May as well try it, worst case you end up upgrading the speakers anyway.
The "nicer" the Cayenne, the less likely you are to find one without Bose.

What options are in the '06 S Titanium Edition?
There really were no "packages" of options on Cayennes. They were all "al la carte". While certain trim levels included certain options, there are a LOT of things that won't automatically come with every level of the cars.
The Titanium editions were mostly a cosmetic package that usually included a few extras. But.....even they are a toss up on what it could or could not have. Always best to look at the options sticker under the rear floor(spare tire area) or at least the window sticker.

I bet they got an $18k trade-in offer - $22k would be a good price but only if all the maintenance is done. I'm expecting to find a 957 for similar money.

Thkse prices aren't all that great. I paid $44k OTD for a 47k mile 2008 CPO'd turbo.
look on porsche USA website for the car locators. That was the best source I found

From what I've seen on the Porsche CPO site almost all the dealers mark up CPO cars by $10k. I went to see a CPO '06 turbo with 50k miles at the local dealer and it was very clean but they didn't seem interested at all in dealing - $38k for an '06 is insane

I've been looking at this for a couple of days. Unfortunately, I'm not yet ready to dive into the market, although DD has given her blessing. Seems like a good car at a fair price. This is nowhere near Portland, though.

I'd be interested in people's opinions, either in this thread, or privately. Good luck, drewcwsj! I'll be watching to see what you end up with!

$ 21,000. I think it was a fair price. Previous owner was an enthusiast, 68,000 miles, coolant pipes and cardan shaft replaced, winter wheels and tires, and thorough maintenance documentation.
I bid on a 2004 CT that was at the Manhiem Pensylvania auction last week, and it sold for $18,900. It had 77,000 miles, was Blue with Grey interior(not my first choice), and had no maintainence history. It was a solid, clean Cayenne, but no one I talked to thought it would go for more than $16,500. I think more and more people are realizing what a great buy these vehicles are!
Good Luck with your search!
