2009 PCM3 and xm nav traffic service not possible?
So I am confused, I assume if you have a pcm3 with xm tuner, options to select dynamic routing, traffic messages and googling notices that "all 2009 cayennes with xm will have nav traffic" available that means I would be able to sign up.
Called siriusxm and was told by the rep you can't get nav traffic subscription without xm radio subscription, I didn't push futher, so not sure if he said I could not get it at all, or just was trying to upsell me.
Went online and used sirusxm chat to ask the questions and was told my radio doesn't support traffic, hence the reason it not being available for my car. Googled all the 911 guys that we're told they did not have a compatible radio by siriusxm but convinced them to update the xm database that their id did have that ability and they were then able to add it.
Anyone get it working on a 957 pcm3.

I tried it on my 2010 but could not get it to work, but that that could just be me and my refusal to read the manual.

Cool thanks, I opened an email ticket with them, will see how far that goes, it is possible that it is a separate module, but XM information seems to be buried in obscurity. My other car, that has sirius has two tuners, one for Radio and one for Traffic, I have no clue if XM is like this, but I could only find one ESN in the info screen. Looking at the parts catalog for our cars shows only two parts, one appears to be sirius and the other the xm module.

Ok, so called XM today and got them to "force" having XM Navtraffic as an option to choose on my online account. only took about 30 minutes, had to have a supervisor override the option in their system. 866-463-5326.
I was told some XM Radios have one ID, others have 2, one for radio, one for traffic. So I suppose it is possible my $750 satellite radio option doesn't have the navigation hardware built in.
I was told it would only show highlighted routes on the map and a list of obstructions in traffic messages, no dynamic navigation.
Will report back if I can get it to do anything

It is 3.99 for the month or 43.99 for the year, which supposedly you have to do if you don't have a radio plan (something else you may have to argue for or call back for a new sales rep if you don't get one that knows) http://www.siriusxm.com/infotainment/pricing
Some will argue they have a smartphone that does this, but I like having a purpose built system and one less distraction when driving when fiddling with google maps, zooming, turning on traffic overlay, waiting for GPS loc, etc.
So had to drive around for a few minutes (bad reception in my driveway) and it now works! I was skeptical with the tech on the phone waiting for 5 minutes and nada. I really had to push to get him to override the system and add the feature, I wonder how much money they loose on things like this with 99% of the folks at SiriusXM saying it is not supported.
I get the Green-Yellow- Red highlighting on the major highways in my area now along with icons depicting construction, accidents, stopped traffic, etc.
Next time I have to drive with traffic and use nav I will report if I remember if it will do dynamic routing.

Pulled this from the PCM3 Manual dated 2008:
Displaying traffic messages
(XM NavTraffic)
XM Satellite Radio broadcast traffic messages as
a part of their program. The PCM evaluates and
displays this information.
The navigation system takes these traffic
messages into consideration during dynamic
route calculation.

Anybody have any idea where i might find that? and if i even have the satellite capabilities? my nav works, i'd just like the traffic updates.

I've been searching all over the internet for how to enable the TMC(traffic message) for PCM.
Mine is 2012.5 Carrera and I wasn't sure where I could get the traffic message service.
However I just did what touareg did and after 1 hours struggling with few people at XM, I see a traffic info on the navi screen.
Thanks touareg!
