pics on how to remove steering airbag 955
spent ages trying to remove airbag to change steering wheel.
as other threads mention.
1 using the steering wheel adjuster( manual or electric) pull the steering wheel out towards you
1) turn steering wheel 90deg
2) you will find a hole where you can place a small headed screw driver.
3) you should try and feel for the spring(looks like a coat hanger wire)
4) place the screw driver in the position shown in pic 2
5) now push screwdriver outwards( towards the steering wheel rim) and also push towards you, you can also aid by pulling the corner of the air bag with the other hand. this should dislodge that corner. place an implement to prevent the airbag re locking and now turn the wheel the other way and repeat.
6) i then waited 10 mins with the car key out and then disconnected the airbag. i did not disconnect the battery.
( disclaimer..this is what I did. totally up to you if you want to do it.)

I did it once on a 911 without disconnecting the battery either. Life on the edge has the best view!
Don't turn the key on with the bag out or you'll get a airbag MIL that only the shop can clear. This I know personally, unfortunately.

don't turn the key when bag out..
i presume that the airbag needs a 'coded' signal to activate rather then just an on/off signal as this could arise at any time in a circuit.
but when i disconnected the airbag i was crouching away from the airbag just incase!!!

Great day, I hope all is well. I have an 09 Cayenne S model. The steering wheel airbag was deployed, which I'm looking to replace now. Are the airbags from 2003 and up compatible? Looking for a knowledgeable response. Thanks.
