So here I sit waiting for a tow after getting a flat because my piece of siht space saver wont I old air. Its just leaking around the rim. I've always wondered about these things.
Someone almost ran me off the road and I ran over a rounded curb with my RR wheel. Seems to have just popped the bead off the rim. Hopefully I wont need new tires.

It is a good practice to check the pressure of ALL of your tires at least once a month. Since space savers can sit for years without use, they rot and lose air.

My space saver has to be inflated after it is removed from the storage area in the back.

Do you really expect them to test inflate the spare for a CPO inspection?

Yes. I do expect the spare to be inspected for a CPO. How long would it take? 5-10 minutes while its in the service bay. What if it was bald or gashed?
How are you supposed to 'use a gas station air pump' when youre on the side of the road? I was pissed, how the heck does this happen? And Im quite mechanical, so it wasnt operator error.

If the spare is inflated to check it, will it collapse back to the original compact size and fit in its space?
After using the collapsible spare wheel
I> Release air by unscrewing the valve insert. The tire will revert to its original shape only after several hours. Only then can it be stowed in the spare wheel recess in the luggage compartment.

This thread does remind me that it's been years since I last testing the 996's inflatable spare. I should do that...
