Hi guys,
I just hit 9700 miles on my Cayenne Diesel and the "fill Adblue - 1500 miles left" message came on.
I had read questions on this forum in the past about topping off Adblue by yourself (and not paying a 400% premium at the dealer) and whether any reset has to be done by the dealer. So thought I'd give it a shot on my own. No dealer reset needed.
I bought 2.5 gallons of Adblue from Kragens for $16.95 (the box didn't have the name Adblue but it was DEF). Then followed pretty much the same steps as this vid for a Touareg (
) except my DEF jug was bigger, had to use a funnel. Put all 2.5 gal in. Figuring that will give me another 5k miles.
Started the engine, and Adblue message stayed on for 10s, then turned off. No reset by dealer needed.
Cheers
Jester

I've read that guys will get a small bottle from Volkwagen and then cut the bottom off and use that as a funnel. Also I think that Adblue is just a brand name of DEF I don't think there's a great variance of quality from one brand to another.
