Default Cost to keep it vs. buying something new

It's getting to be that time. It's time to decide if I want to keep repairing the Cayenne or sell it/trade it for something new. It's my wife's daily driver, so her input is pretty important. She's leaning towards selling it.

Our kids are now off to college, so a smaller SUV will be just right. I wish the Macan was available - we would really consider it. At this point, if we decide to sell it we will most likely end up with one of the following:

- Audi Q5 3.0 TFSI
- Range Rover Evoque
- BMW X3
- Cadillac SRX

My preference is the Q5. She likes it as well as the Evoque. We plan to drive both this weekend and then decide what to do.

I'm torn because the P!g has been a great vehicle. On the other hand, it would be nice to get something newer with modern electronics, features, etc.

After driving all but the Cadillac, I'd suggest the Q5 as well. I didnt like the X3, the wife hated the 'squishiness' of the Evoque, but the Audi really was a nice package.

If the repairs on the Cayenne arent too bad though, I'd personally wait on the Macan. It seems to be a nice vehicle.

I owned an SRX before the my first Cayenne back in 2004. I was not pleased with the outcome.

Id personally hold out for it if you can...

I liked the x3....a lot. Just not good for towing. Think it has great driving dynamics and you can get plug-n-play software to make the turbo a monster if that's your cup of tea. It's not the best "looker" but I think it's the best driver.

I think we're going to get it fixed again. There's no reason to rush into anything. Maybe I'll wait until the Macan is available so I can see it in person before we decide.

Headed to the shop next week for a brake job and a new cardan shaft.

After viewing the hour plus long 2013 Motor Trend Best Drivers Car video, if I were replacing my Cayenne turbo s today I would definitely drive the MB E36 AMG wagon. The car just knocks it out of the park.

We need a taller profile vehicle for two reasons. First of all, my wife prefers the elevated seating of an SUV to that of a sport wagon. Secondly, our Great Dane needs the head room in the cargo area.

I trust nothing Motor Trend says. Especially when they get those fancy "demo" cars.

If you even consider the Evoque, make sure it has the Dynamic suspension - completely different vehicle than the standard. My Land Rover dealer has several Evoque loaner vehicles, and one with 20" Michelin Pilots and Dynamic. Drive it in Sport, keep the revs above 4K, and it is pretty fun. Alas, there is no way your Great Dane will fit in the back with the sloped roof - he/she would love an LR4, however.

The new brakes and the new cardan shaft are done. We're back on the road!

Take a close look at the new Diesel SUVs too.! VW, BMW, Porsche or the MB...

I bought a VW Passat TDI in March for DD and the mileage is between 40-50 mpg!!! I just can't get over it...

I like the Cayenne diesel. I think I will consider it also. I really wish the Tesla Model X would be ready sooner. I'd love one of those.
