Default wierd issue with the ride quality....all of a sudden

I tried search but didn't really see anything that fits this issue....

My car (2008 GTS) is just riding really strangley. There are no fault codes, and no issues that would indicate a tire balance issue. A dealer looked the car over and didn't find anything, but it IS driving wierd. It is not my imagination. No wheel bearings appear weak. Nothing obvious on physical inspection on the lift.

The best way to describe it is this:

1. The car no longer seems to ride any differently no matter what setting the shocks are set on, comfort, normal, sport....no difference. The car just rides rock hard on all settings. Even on a really rough paved road, if I switch from sport to comfort, the dash indicates it all seems to work, but the ride stays the same....

2. The car seems to kind of feel "asymetrical." It feels like one of the corners (shocks, wheels, tires?) is "not like the others." The car seems to sort of "crab walk" down the road.

It is subtle but I have owend the car a year and it was perfect and all of a sudden it just changed....

Any ideas?

Tire pressure? On mine it only takes 5 pounds over to ruin the ride quality.

As for the latter issue, are the rims different sizes? If so, are they in their proper corners?

Do you have a teenager? Did they drive it?

Does the car raise and lower properly if you toggle between ride height settings?

What you’ve described “crab-walk” sounds like perhaps a 4-wheel drive lock-up issue. I’ve not had my ’09 CTTS long enough to be all that familiar with the Cayenne all wheel drive system, but I’ve accidently engaged 4WD in other vehicles and they will behave similar to what you mention.

Set the tire pressure correctly, with more in the rear.

Wow, that's an anomaly. I'd take the dealer to a section of road near them and demonstrate the lack of difference between setting.

In the interim, confirm the air pressure and check for uneven wear near the edges. I had some old dunlops on my car and was getting really annoyed at the ride quality. Finally had enough and switched to my track tires - Nitto NT01, and the ride quality improved dramatically. When we took the street wheels off the inside edges on hte front were exceptionally worn and the tires showed signs of impending tread separation. Never seen that before.

Good luck
