955 2004 CTT Driveline vibration and noise - just the support bearing or driveshaft?
Hello -
I am currently experiencing driveline vibration and noise under acceleration. I have noticed the the driveshaft is wiggling around quite a bit however shop is telling me the entire driveshaft needs to be replaced not just the support bearing.
I know the support bearings are known to fail and what to make sure I am not being taken here and being forced to replace working parts.
Any insight on this issue would be greatly appreciated. CTT has 90k on it.

Not much else to go wrong with the driveshaft but the bearing and the center joint. That said.
The bearing is only about $100.....but......the shaft must be disassembled to install it. Which can account for several hours of labor at a shop. Which in most cases will add up to more than a new shaft.
There is a company in Denver that rebuilds them and they are only $375 for a shaft. You might have good luck removing it, buying the bearing and taking it to a driveshaft shop to ahve it done too.

Yup...most likely support bushing, but the hassle is well worth getting a shaft from colors do drive shafts.com. its 375 after you return your shaft so be prepared to spend 475 first, then get some refund after they review your return shaft.
I have DIY for this on this forum and 6speed and renntech....on here quota for pics was like 3 bytes, so had to delete pics...can still get it from the others though. Not bad as DIY, but be prepared for a few hours if never done this before.
