Diesel Maintenance Schedule why 5K not 10k

All due respect grohgreg, although you may well be technically correct in circumventing the shorter maintenance schedule by using cetane additives, and monitoring oil quality results ... I would happily decline your warranty claim in the off-chance case of an engine failure, if I worked as a bean counter at Porsche

Like Steve says, probably a bean counter thing. That said, it's not exactly the same engine. I had a 2011 Tourareg TDI with a visibly different 3.0 engine variant. Among other things, the turbo and the oil filter are in different locations, and there's more heat shielding on this variant. Plus the Audi & VW don't have either the Porsche-tuned ECU or Sport Mode.

If it helps you get there, the stock CD 0-60 time is spec'd by Porsche to be 7.2 seconds. With the addition of a reasonably priced selectable tuning box, I'm currently set for approximately 288 hp and 496 torque. That's nearly 100hp/liter, which has dropped me well into the six second range now. Even better, the increased performance is accompanied by an estimated 15% increase in mpg (as long as I don't keep my foot in it too long). Not bad for a 5000 pound mid-sized SUV

I've read about your tune box. Very cool. Very pleased with my TDI Exec, average 26-27 mpg. My interest on the Cayenne is the interior and seats along with the handling. Would never even consider the Cayenne but its not priced much higher than my VW even with the Premium Plus and Pano roof.
Problem is my TDI is a 2012 and the depreciation hit is just too much. Have over 22k in 14 months! So, I wait and read this forum and learn as much as possible. Also considering a Porsche Macan if we get a proper diesel here down the road.
