Hi guys
I am fed up of the manual rear view mirror in my Cayenne 2006. Planning to put in an auto dimming mirror.
What all would I need to do, I know I need a power supply and ground....There is already a rain sensor coming behind the mirror....Can we use the power from that?
Does an auto dimming mirror have a sensor somewhere?

I have two auto dim mirrors that I have been experimenting with. It is not as simple as powere and ground. I cant get them to work properly.
I installed an aftermarket auto-dimming mirror in my 996. It works very well and it was easy yo install. I don't know if they exist for the Cayenne, but it might be worth a look.
ok so what exactly do I need...I see a lot of used mirrors on ebay for like $40 or more which have 2 or 3 wires coming out.
What exactly do we need to hook up?
the mirror in my cayenne swivels on a ball mount, so I was thinkin pick one form ebay and mount it and connect power and ground??
Looks like two wires are ripped out. Use the wiring I posted. A1 power A2 ground A3 reverse A4-A5 for outside mirrors (likely you don't have auto dim outside mirrors either so ignore these two) A6 lights

tozo your diagram shows power and ground..What about switched power?
Maybe one is for switched power and one fore outside mirrors.

Tozo, carreracup used your wiring and his mirror does not work. He says pressing the button does not make the light go off!!
This is what is happening to Carreracups mirror:
"I cant remember what I did. The mirror would dim and you could not turn off dim with the switch. So the mirror would dim even if light was not shined onto it, and the power switch had no effect on this. The green light (I think it was green) would not turn off with the switch"
Anyone ever figure this out?
I was told I couldn't install the auto headlight switch and make it work by 2 dealers, but I did and it and the coming home function work perfectly.
I am also fed up with this auto dimming mirror business. Is there any way it can be done? There are bluetooth mirrors that can be charged using the cigarette lighter charger so is there any sort of auto dimming mirrors like this that can be charged like these?
