Default HELP! 2006 cayenne will not go into gear

When pressing the brake paddle , the stick shift will not go into gear, it's stuck
It's there a sensor around the brake pedal that sends a signal to the lock on the stick shift to unlock and release the stick shift into gear?

TIA

My 04 does the same thing sometimes, usually when it's been idling for a while. Can you hear a clicking sound near the shifter when you put your foot on and then take it off the brake? If so, it seems to me that your brake switch is working. Mine clicks so I figure it must be a locking switch in the shifter

Yes I can hear the clicking noise when I put my foot on the break, but mine is the opposite of yours , mine does it only when the vehicle is cold , once it gets warm it doesn't happen anymore

I seem to recall a thread on this about a year or so ago, did you try a search?

I did work on a Touareg that had this problem a couple of years ago. I remember that the battery was bad, but I don't remember if we traced the problem to anything beyond that.

I searched back but the one I must have been thinking of was the shift lever itself would move but the indicator on the dash stayed it park and that's not your problem. His resolution was a shift module on the right hand side of the transmission.

Sorry. GLWP

This will also happen if the car is in "limp-home" mode. The only way to bypass the shift-lock is to use the provided tool under the armrest floor and remove the screws holding down the console escutcheon trim panel. Once there, you will see the mechanism and be able to manually bypass it. The procedure is located in your owner's manual.

My Cayenne went into limp-home mode last winter when the Can-Bus connector located under the carpet became wet and corroded. This was traced back to a blocked sunroof drain.
