OK, new guy here. I have a '13 GTS and purchased the Curt hitch kit for it. Before I dive in to do the install, I'm trying to figure out exactly what I need to do electrically to properly connect the trailer to the Cayenne. The dealer was no help in finding a separate harness/module that would work. They said to just buy the whole hitch assembly from them. Also, I have the rear camera/parking sensor option and don't want to have issues with false beeps from the trailer. I mostly tow a motorcycle trailer, but occasionally tow a boat that is about 4500 lbs with trailer. Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Also remember that if you have parking sensors they will be going off and you will have to turn them off every time you start the truck. The computer used in the factory system fixes this. As well the computer checks for burnt bulbs and alerts you to that fact. Can be handy. (don't try confirming this with Larry, though)

I have the factory hitch on my 13' GTS. It's a 100k sport ute. I would only do the factory one. I don't like honest John trailers cutting into my wiring harness.

also take into account the cost of the trailer/boat/contents that you are towing. I would approach any aftermarket install very conservative (if at all).

each to his own.....im sure curt must have done some bit of research before designing the hitch and the light controller etc. and the hitch is just a matter of remowing the aluminum plate and screwing in the hitch....its really straight forward...no complex design

Since I started this zombie thread, we bought a Wrangler with a hitch so the Cayenne's hitch need went away. But I have to say that Curt is the biggest hitch maker in the world and certainly has some engineering chops for this kind of thing.

I went with the CURT hitch and no electronics since I only haul mountain bikes for now. The install was pretty straight forward, hardest part for me was getting those wheel well screws way in the back and disconnecting the back up sensor wires (very short). One thing to keep in mind, I have a GTS and I had to trim the bumper and valance to get the hitch to clear.

So have all the Curt stuff - hitch, controller, etc. One last question before I start taking things apart. My '13 GTS has both parking sensors and lane change assist. Am I going to have issues with either when I have a trailer attached? If so, any thoughts on a fix other than the factory hitch "kit"?
Thanks.

Here s what my wife saw when she came home from work
I bought this Cayenne a week before this. My wife freaked out when she saw my son and I had the whole back of the SUV disassembled!

OEM kit recommended if you have air suspension or LED tail lights
The OEM kit has a whole separate plug and play computer with it to accommodate all the options on you GTS. I was told by someone who attempted the after market hitch on a Turbo that they had all kinds of error code issues. I have had my OEM kit installed for a year now and I tow trailers all the time. Heavy boats down to light 4 wheelers. It works great. The Porsche dealer said it changes shift patterns and adjusts for tongue weight? Once I installed the kit, I had to take it to the dealer for final programming. I bought the kit from a Porsche dealer in FL online for a nice discount. With the cost of these Porsches, it just didn't make sense to me to use aftermarket. If I had a standard Cayenne without air suspension and Tiptronic I may consider it.
