Dear All,
I have a 2004 cayenne S that i purchased a few months ago.
A few weeks ago I was unable to get into the car with the remote. I tried using the key lock in the driver’s door without any luck. Would not even budge. I had to call the dealer who came with a break in kit and pried open the door (without any damage).
i since put in a large quantity of WD40 in the key lock without it even moving. I took it to my usual mechanic who does all European cars who says I have order a new lock from Stuttgart... 250 dollars and 6 weeks lead time and around 300 dollars of labor...![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I an afraid to close the door as according to the Porsche dealer this just happens once in a while
any advice ??
thanks!

Are you sure that the door lock or the ignition cylinder hasn't been rekeyed?
Also, don't use WD-40 in a outside lock cylinder as it will attract dirt and debris possibly destroying the cylinder, use something called Houdini Lock Lubricant.
Can you disassemble the door to check the entire mechanism? It is possible that there is something other than the lock cylinder broken or frozen.

I am quite sure that the key has not been rekeyed. The key slides in without any issue. Just that once inside no way to move it in either direction. Even though I have puts lots of WD40 , I will try the houdini. As for taking apart the door I am way out of my confort zone. I have the impression that maybe the WD 40 is just not getting far back enough? Thanks very much for the tips!

Before you spend a boat load of money, there are some very good locksmiths who specialize in automotive locks and it might be worth it to contact a company like that. At work, I use two companies who are very good with issues like this and, more often than not, can solve the issue for a lot less.

I drove by the Porsche dealer today and made a stop. No need to take apart the door. The super nice guys pulled out the lock in 2 min and it looked very rusted. They tried to heat it up, add lubricant...its shot so I ordered a new barrel for 300 and it should be in next week! Sometimes its better to go to the dealer!
