Pricing 2013--Are dealers dealin', or MRSP?
Anyone recently purchase a 2013 model? Wondering if the dealers are sticking to MSRP or any chance of negotiating a lower price?
What's the process/wait time to 'order' one?
I'm looking at a very basic model, yet most dealer inventory (LA, SoCal) all are heavily optioned.
eg MSRP on a bare bones Cayenne is $48K, yet all locally are over $60K optioned out.
thanks

I ordered a diesel in May, it was built in July, delivered in August. Base $55,750, as delivered $71k. Paid ~2.1% under MSRP. That said, they allowed a more generous trade allowance for my Touareg than expected.

Ordered a diesel last week for Feb production - Delivery in March. Stickers at about $71K. Got 1K off, only because my wife was ready to walk, and shop elsewhere (there's 4 dealers within a 40 mi radius). I know supplies are tight, and I threw the $1K discount out, and the sales guy accepted it as my wife was leaving. Dealer had none in inventory, or to test drive. Bought a V6 a year ago without test driving, and very happy with it -- wife is driving that one (got $500 off that one, and a free oil service). I've found it's best to order one the way you want it and just endure the wait. Otherwise, it's likely you won't get exactly what you want (do w/o options / color you want, and pay for things you don't want). Just work a deal, place the order, and don't think about it too much -- it will arrive eventually.
Since I have a 2004 Turbo to sell, the wait gives me some time to sell it privately.
When supplies are tight, it's tough to get much of a deal. Years ago (1999), I order a 911 through a buying service, got a really nice discount ($4K), but waited about 6 months for delivery.
Some markets may be more buyer friendly, but in the SF Bay Area, economy is good, and there's lots of Facebook money gravitating to the Porsche dealerships.

I think it depends in what models/options you are looking at.
I got 4% on my Oct diesel build and could have gotten the same on a V6 or S. They were only willing to do 2% on a manual V6 though since they'd have trouble selling it if I backed out (and it was about an 8 month wait for their next 6mt slot).
Seems like over the summer you CA guys were seeing 4-5% discounts.

10% is all dealers say they make. So 4% should be easy. 5% is prob max, and you will have to work. 6% is for past customers at least at the dealership I go to.

in socal, be lucky if you could even find a low option car available... most get snatched up right away, and for that reason a discount will be very difficult to nego.. you could buy from midwest dealer that doesn't sell as much and get probably 5%... but 120 days start to finish on average, sometimes more.. and then shipping costs..
a 60k cayenne is actually "pretty bare bones".. i had a 57k sticker one i ordered and all it had was auto trans and full leather interior...
also the 120 days depends on dealer allocation, sometimes sold out or way backordered since they only get alotted so many cars.. make some calls and nego a discount but remember allocation date is whats important.

keep this in mind, i sold my 2011 cayenne for 10k over sticker and 2012 for 8k over sticker... WHY? because demand is insanely high because of overseas markets having to pay over double what e pay...
for that reason, you wont see any "base" car's just sitting around.. and all dealer stock will have heavy options cause they make 15% on options, and only 10% on the vehicle.
i'd suggest ordering one, call around outside cali... cali market is high demand, those cayenne's sitting are sitting for a reason.. also checking online stock is not realistic.. check what they actually have.. most of the "60k" cars listed online are not on the lot "just sold" to get you in the door and buy the 72k sticker whatever they cant sell.
again, a 48k cayenne doesn't exist.... if you even tried to order one would be like 6 months wait cause dealers get almost no allocation for manual transmission cayenne's

Just got a 2013 Tip, pretty well optioned, about 8% off. If you are looking for a deal this one is at the Monterey dealer, they'll take $59.

I just went through this game a couple of months ago and couldn't find much on what people are paying. The one's that do, don't tell you where they got the deal from. I found a review of the dealers in SoCal that was pretty accurate, after I had already contacted most of them of course, and I agreed 100% that Downtown LA Porsche was the easiest to deal with and was willing to give the best deal. Talk to Jonathan Arvatz, the Internet sales manager...no BS and no games. Took me about 5 minutes to order my car once I went in and met him. Ordered in October and will be picking it up in January.

Thanks. All good info.
Any way to find out if the dealer is being truthful, or accurate in their estimate of build date and delivery date, once a deposit is made? How's it work?--if a dealer has reached their 'allotment', must they wait until their next 'cycle'?
Being in SoCAl, with many dealerships available, I want to order one from a dealer who can realistically get the car to me at their quoted time frame.
