Default Larger fuel tank?

I'm reading in the manual (p.255) that there is an optional 26.42 gal. (100 liters) fuel tank, vs. the 22.45 (85 liters) tank. However, I did not see this option when ordering the car and my dealer says that all tanks are the same size. Does any one have different information?

All the later models have the larger fuel tanks.

I believe it is standard on all north American cars.
Not sure about the rest of the world.

If you get the smaller tank, do you get more luggage room or just less weight?

Have a 2012 V6 (Nov 2011 production), did not pay for a larger tank, but I've filled it with 25+ gallons. First, I suspected that the gas pump was chipped, but I experienced the same fill ups at other gas stations. Manual says approximately 22 gal.

used to be able to option the 26.4, now they are all 26.4.. option was back when the car first came out.. was free option.

only downside is having to walk inside station to pay or use 2 cards to fill, at least here in florida cause we have $75 or $100 limit on fill ups... if u walk inside u can ask for $150 and then only charges what you actually pump (annoying on road trips to have to use two cards to fill all the way up.)

no change in vehicle.. just a smaller tank, i think that for some options they needed that space for something else.. hence the two options.. maybe the air susp or something needed the smaller tank, i knew back in 2011 cause i asked.. but at that time is was 0$ option so i just ordered it and it didn't conflict w/ my options chosen.

When we ordered ours, the larger tank was a free option. I did not select it because I thought the extra weight would jusy reduce gas mileage (however slight). It came through, however, with the larger tank and I appreciate having it for longer travel distance between fill-ups. It still gets great gas mileage (over 27 MPG on the highway with the base 6 and tiptronic).

All 12's and 13's have the 26 gallon tank standard. It was only an option on the 2011 model in USA regardless of what shows as an "option", the sticker or option list was just updated yet at the time of the change.
