Default My aluminum coolant pipes are plastic...

2004 CTT w 75000.
I checked my coolant pipes as instructed in the sticky thread with an iPhone pic and they looked like one of the pics posted and declared to be aluminum.
Just had my Indy pull the exhaust manifolds and got a look at the pipes...all plastic made to look like cast aluminum...what!!
I am wondering what this is all about? The dealer where the truck was originally sold had no record of replacing the pipes. All the pics I
Have seen have been black plastic. Is this a Porsche product?
Anyone see this before?
I would have the manifolds pulled if I was checking for plastic pipes as the inspection method used in the sticky appears to be flawed. Sorry for bearing bad news.

But seriously...if you are checking out a used vehicle, the so called mirror inspection method ain't gonna and shouldnt give any peace of mind.

I am happy I have the original work order for the pipes. It was one of those tough decisions. The car had more miles than I really wanted, but the history and service records were excellent.

Got any pics of those? All original pipes are black plastic. Porsche never made any silver plastic pipes.

My pics are exactly the same as the ones in the sticky thread on how to inspect coolant pipes without removing manifold. Look at post #14.
I'll stop in and get a few photos after they are removed.

Oh dang....mechanic removed the coolant pipes and they ARE aluminum..I repeat aluminum! I apologize
The pipes did sound like plastic when tapped.
Back to your regular programming.

I just deleted the radiator and whole coolant system -- great weight reduction.

My lap times have dropped considerably.

After all -- aren't *real* Porsche's air cooled :-)
