For those that live in dusty environments or do any kind of offroad driving on dusty gravel trails, etc, how often are you cleaning or changing your air filters (engine/intake)?

I know Porsche recommends that dusty areas require more frequent check and possible replacement of the air filter elements. Are you running a stock air filter ?

Wonder how fine that dust is -- and is it within the level of particulates that the filter will catch?
I read where the military had serious problems with their engines on the M1's during Desert Storm.
They flew out a specialist who redesigned the air filter.

I was about to check it, but I think I may just wait another 5-7k miles for the change. I read somewhere that if I take it off to clean, it is recommended to change it at that time because it might not seal properly again.
