Default Tow Hook

As winter is coming on I figured I would check the tow hook. The front screwed in just fine, but the rear was really dirty. Could not get the hook screwed in on either side. Cleaned it out using a wire battery terminal brush and WD40. Got it all the way in and then coated the threads in the bumper in grease. Good to go. Would have been a real pain if I was going to extract someone and the hook wouldn't screw in.
On another note. How strong are these things? When pulling or being pulled out of a ditch a fair mount of force is generated. I always use a 30' ****** strap with a shackle on each end.
I am used to pulling with this:
