Spark Plug Gap

Spark Plug Gap
Just replaced the plugs and coils in my 2008 Cayenne 6 cylinder. Factory manual said plug gap should be 1.1mm. Dealer plugs I bought for the car came in gapped at 0.9mm. Old plugs in vehicle were also gapped at 0.9mm. I adjucted one plug to 1.1mm and then read that plugs should not be re-gapped. Plugs should be replaced if the gap is wrong. I re-gapped the the one plug to 0.9mm and installed all the new plugs as is (gapped at 0.9mm). The car runs great! Mild surging is gone and I've got more power. Is the moral of the story here to ignore the plug gap data in the manual and trust that the dealer plugs will come in gapped correctly? BillT

I don't have boxes of spark plugs sitting around so when I get one that's off I will adjust it. I will make sure they are close per the specs, I don't try to get them exact. I've never seen an explanation for why it should not be done.
