Default How many engine oil drain plugs on 08S (4.8L)

I went to do my first oil change today, but wasn't sure about the drain plugs (see pic below). I think there is just one, but wasn't sure about the smaller one on the passenger side. Can you please confirm that it is just the larger one and also what is the smaller one for?

The one on the lower left looks like a transfer case (AWD), can't you tell by looking at what the "pan/plug" is attached to?

It looked like that to me, but the FWSM identifies two and the second one in the drawing looks to be in that location. It's my impression that the 4.8l has only one. So, I'm just wanting to make sure the other one is not for the engine.

Your orientation is off. The two oil drain plugs run longitudinally of each other, forward and aft, not left to right.

Just use the one main plug in your photo. IMO there is nothing to be gained by draining the second plug (nothing really comes out). I just flush the system with a little fresh oil and leave the smaller plug alone.

The 4.8 only has one drain plug for the engine (the one on the right in your picture). The left one in your picture is for the front differential.
