There's a list of oils approved by Porsche available from your dealer or for paying members of www.renntech.org. You don't have to use Mobil 1.

I'm currently running Schaeffer Supreme 9000 05W40 in my Cayenne S and my Carrera 4S, even though it's not officially approved by Porsche.

Currently running Motul 8100 X-cess 5w40, no issues. Unless you're in the frozen north I would seriously consider 5w40 over 0w40, both weights are acceptable in Porsche's oil guides.

I wouldn't have an issue running Mobil 1 but only if it was in 5w40 (not sure if they make that weight).

If you want some real entertainment start an oil thread in the 993 forum....
