New Arrivals
I work for a company that provides transportation to Porsche. Mainly we import most of their parts to support the warehouse here in Atlanta, but yesterday we received 16 Turbo Cayennes and 1 cut-away chasis, complete with motor and drivetrain.
We were allowed to drive them from planeside to the parking lot and I have to say (I own a 79 930 with 45dyno'd hp) these would beat my car off the line and for the first two gear changes (930 gear changes). Extremely impressive.
Five of the units are going to dealerships for training and the others are going to Telledega for some fun.
The chassis was very interesting to look at too. The turbos are not what I expected - very compact and the hot side is more like what you would expect to see on a gas turbine motor. The suspension, drivetrain and brakes are all very impressive, sitting in a tubular frame. The wildest part is the muffler - hard to describe, but wide, flat and takes up the entire area aft of the transaxle.
The intake manifold is plastic and sitting under it (between the cylinders) is the starter. Better hope that thing never goes out, because the entire induction system will have to come off to get to it.

Well its no wonder the Cayenne can beat your 930 off the line with that whopping 45hp at your disposal. Does it help your time at AutoX when course workers push? Do you turn on the rear window hand warmers for them?

Don just having fun.
I'm curios as to why you list 450 crank if you pulled 413 at on the dyno? I've always used the standard 15% loss in the driveline which would put you at 485hp.
Do you have the stock R&P?

After reading it, AFTER I posted it, I had to laugh too.
Anyway, I have a dyno sheet showing 412 then 413 rwhp on two separate occassions, so I am only estimating the crank HP. 485 sounds better, no doubt. The gearbox is completely stock, although I am considering different 3 & 4th gears to shorten them up a bit. Any suggestions??

I have the shorter R&P from Andial. It is quick as hell, almost too quick through the gears. My problem is i did the HP and R&P at the same time. Kinda wish I had tested the HP with the stock unit first. I shift about 10mph sooner now. After boost hits (3k) then it takes absolutely no time to get to redline... lots of fun. Have you considered a really tall 4th? Not good for track maybe, but would make the car easier to cruise with on the interstate.
Wow, just looked at your car. You've been busy lately. I like the new body work and paint.
