Pikes Peak, the Audi's crossover SUV concept that was warmly received at the Detroit auto show in January, may soon see production.
"Following positive reactions in Detroit we felt that we have to build it," Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Audi, said at the Geneva motor show. "We expect to decide on that within a month from now."
Pikes Peak will be based on the same platform as Volkswagen's Touareg and Porsche's Cayenne. But it will get a 250mm longer wheelbase.

Unlike Audi's A8 flagship, Pikes Peak would not get an aluminum structure. "It has an all-steel structure, but with the possibility of aluminum body panels, doors and bonnet," Winterkorn said.
It hasn't yet been determined where production would take place. Bodies for the Touareg and Cayenne are made at VW's Bratislava, Slovakia, plant. "Producing Pikes Peak in Bratislava would be a good idea. But we could make it in our own facilities," said Winterkorn.
If Audi gives a go-ahead for Pikes Peak, "the car could be for sale from 2005," Winterkorn said.
Said Lex Hunt, head of Audi USA: "We believe that 30,000 units per year is a realistic target."

I really like the looks of it as well. The only thing I don't like are the scallops on the rocker panels. I'd prefer it if they toned down the grill a little bit but it's not bad as is.
It is AT LEAST 10 times better looking than the Cayenne and if it has a typical Audi interior that will probably be 20 times nicer than the Cayenne's.

One more idea Porsche should have looked at.

I'm also of the opinion that the Audi is the best looking of the three platform offerings.
Rob, that Nuvolari is very interesting, particularly from the front end. Nice interior, too. Back end is less attractive, to my eyes.

The Rosenmeyer grill's on the new Audi's are going to take some time to adjust to, and that 'Robin's Egg Blue' has got'ta go! But the interior looks great and the 500hp twin V8 show car engine sure sounds sweet
Was hoping for a updated UrQ as the new coupe

That Audi looks too much like the Dodge Magnum SRT8. The roof line is almost identical.
I don't like the too-upright grille either.
If I wanted an all wheel drive wagon, I'd buy the Volvo V70R, not the Audi. The Audi isn't even an SUV.
