My vote is Ferry Pieche in is "retirement". The man who brought us the dry sump, the 907, and all those great Can Am and Le Mans winning teams.

Norbert is who I thought you'd say.

I like that idea. He would have the support of Porsche's largest stockholder.

But if he took over, PAG would probably end up acquiring VAG VAG VAG.

Good night guys

That would be great Mike, then he would run the whole company again!

Maybe that is the secret plan

Hi FF

"YOU'RE NOT GETTING IT... AUDI IS AUDI, IT'S NOT A SPORTSCAR COMPANY."

That may be, but for a company that doesn't know sportscars, they're doing a good job of totally dominating sportscar racing.

Actually Finn, my guess is a certain PAG board member saw to it a lot of the development work on the R-8 happened in Weissach.

Mike,

I agree, they're doing he11 of a job with with LeMans series! I've heard those stories about Porsche being quiet & letting Audi to race but I don't know if it's true or not.

I know one thing though, it should be Porsche instead of Audi up there!

BTW, I like Audi cars (I'm actually thinking of getting that new A4 for family car, I think it looks nice!)

I dont see Ferrari coming out with a truck. I think It was a big mistake by porsche, the sports car craze is back. I think the big SUv's are going out of style. Or soon will be. Why dont they come out with a new version of an older car? or a new not soo expensive sports car? That would be a lot better You would see a big difference in profits. Maybe they are high now, but they could have been higher. That's just my opinion. Later.

'Fiat is to sell a large number of shares in Ferrari in order to tackle its rising debts, according to a report from Automotive News Europe. Fiat has just posted a 529million euro loss in the first quarter of this year (a 429million euro loss in the Fiat Auto division), and analysts say that the company urgently needs to release some capital. Fiat is also to temporarily lay off 19,000 workers, as it cuts production by 14,700 cars this summer. Italian newspapers suggest that 3000-5000 of these jobs could be lost permanently. It is now looking more likely that Fiat could sell its 80 percent stake in Fiat Auto to General Motors, which owns the other 20 percent, when this option comes up in 2004.'

I found the above article on www.4car.co.uk...hmmmmmmmm. So who wants to be taken over by a BIGGER Company eh? I hope Ferrari does not suffer as a result if FIAT having its own set of financial problems. I mean - how can Ferrari survive making just a handful of cars per year even IF they have a successful F1 racing team which is just breaking even because of the WIN at all cost attitude.

Thank God Porsche still remains independent and is actively looking at new ways of staying that way.

Now back to this Cayenne issue, only time would tell how successful it becomes - in the mean time, IMO this thread just re-iterates curiosity about the product.

I'm not curious, I hate it.

Everything around it (Porsche building non sports car, and more, an SUV! Not racing...) is taking Porsche more and more away from what it used to be.

What Porsche used to be (=true sportscar company with decades of great racing heritage) is the reason why so many people hate it.

Instead of a new SUV, they should come out with a new 951, a new 928, a new 930, etc. That would be a better idea. There should be more porsche models around. there is only the 911 and the boxter. Come out with more cars Porsche!!!

The Cayenne rocks; And Jbh is right, once the GT hits the street and track you'll forget you ever dissed the Cayenne.
