Honda created the "Acura" to market a different image. Toyota did this to create "Lexus". and Nissan created "infinity". Seems to me they all have a very clever marketing plan to boast their images and profit. Why is Porsche doing the opposite thing? In my opinion they may cash in on this, but will ultimately hurt their image. Can they at least try to do what the japanese are doing: create a different brand to target a different group of customers? Call me conservative, but "Porsche" and "cayenne" don't mix well together.

Acura, Lexus and Infinity are brands you cannot find outside of the U.S. So it was done to cater to a U.S. mentality.

Quite a while ago, I suggested that perhaps the Cayenne would have been "better accepted" by others if it were, instead of the "Porsche Cayenne" it was labeled "The Cayenne by Porsche". I know, it is a subtle difference, but it wouls differentiate the car from the truck.
