Congrats. But if I was out in the boonies with no support/parts helicopter, I would choose a vehicle with 0 (zero) electronics. A Land Rover Defender or an old Jeep would do me just fine. Something you can wrench in the field and make it out.

My friend has a 1945 ****** Jeep MB ... now that's an offroad vehicle. Raised with El Rancho shocks. And LT1 engine (meaning it's damn fast) Dana 44s and all that junk. I wouldn't call it bullet proof, but it's ideal for that sort of thing.

Congrats to the Cayenne (and the 911) Speaking of which did anyone notice the 911 in the pic is a C4S? Does that mean the C4S is the best 911 among the C2/C4S/TT or did the survey not get that specific? (GT2/3 were in another category)

I am perplexed as to how the H2 made the top 3, that vehicle doesn't do anything well.

Ken, the TT was in the different category with the GT2/3.

I dont know how the H2 made the top 3 either...the general public likes it I guess...

Ummm...

You do realize that was based on a reader's poll. Most of the people who voted have never driven ANY of the cars they vote for (esp. the Ferrari Enzo!). So it's really just a popularity contest.

Still nice to win, though!

H2 is one of the best stock off-road vehicles out there...if it doesn't do that well then how would you describe the Cayenne's off-road ability?

Actually, the H2 is decent offroad... not in the same league as an H1 or G500. It's simply awful on road, though - it's a GMT 800 platform, stretched to it's limit.

I guess it depends on who you talk to...even by your ranking it is in the top 3 vehicles. The on-road ride is very similar to a Chevy Tahoe...just a bit stiffer. It is actually pretty good with the air suspension package.
