I just had the 3M film put on. Would that make the noise happen? Come to think of it I didn't have that noise before hand?

Is it the 3M film? Such a thin film can make that much difference?

we had an issue early on with the 3m on the drivers side mirror. we couldnt solve the wind noise until it was removed. This may not be the solution for each case, but it was, once...and not on all the cars that have the film... just another data point...

mufflers and cat-bypass pipes will cure any unwanted noises...

There was a TSB issued for the touareg. I don't think the mirrors are the same, but it seems odd that both vehicles would have a similar issue.

FWIW, I have the 3m tape, but only the Driver's side whistles.

Brought the Pepper in for the remote recall (W540660002) and to have the cooling fans replaced. Asked them to look at the mirror in light of TSB 6440. They installed some Silicone adhesive to the drivers side mirror. Unfortunately it did not work.

Im thinking about taking the autobaun tape off and see if that is the cause - has anyone had this issue and get it resolved?

Just an after thought. There was an early problem caused by holes in the doors not being sealed properly. They had a fix for that.

This was my favorite quote while reading about the 'spoiler' VW designed for the bottom of the new Touareg side mirrors....

I want my brand new 50k+ vehicle to have every update that the manufacturer has to offer for the '04 model. period. this is neither a rant or a whine...just what is expected

Scientific proof that on the evolutionary ladder of development, Touareg owners are very similar to Cayenne owners....Darwin would be proud.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that PAG/PCNA will NOT be deploying new mirror designs.
