Post deals available

we've been discussing porsche deflation on the TT forum, and i thought i'd pass on some likely deal info here. from autospies:
Here in the Washington DC area, the four Porsche dealers must have around 75 unsold new Cayennes in stock between them. One had a 39 month deal in the Saturday ads today for $749. Another had a $579 48mo offer: you guessed it, it was for a '04. The high '04 residual and dealers ready to move the cars (that dealer, when I called, said he had over 30 on his lot alone) has go to bring prices way down. Somebody with a lease calculator and the actual numbers could figure the details, but I read the higher depreciation as saying that one should not pay much more than invoice for either year.

The dealer with the $579 ad is hbloftysons.com; the $749 place is mileone.com.

If two people call up one car dealer and get the same answer, it will be a miracle.

Still, inventory around here is amazing. More than 30 Cayennes at HBL, 22 at Mileone, and 16 at Rockville P+A, and I don't know about Porsche of Arlington, another big dealer around here without inventory online. Almost half of Mileone's on line inventory is Cayennes (22 of 46), and the same with Rockville Porsche (16 of 35 or so) It's hard to search Rockville's online inventory cause the Cayennes are hidden: search for brand "Porsche" and you get the boxsters and 996s, you have to know to search for "Por" as a brand for you to get the Cayennes). Likewise with HBL, which has one or two under Porsche, but search under "Po" and you'll find another thirty.

Lot's of Cayennes on autotrader as well

Strange to read all this when Europeans have to wait more than a year for a Cayenne with no chance to get a discount.
Over here there are no cars in stock, even the demo cars already have a buyer before they even arrive at the dealers. <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" />

watt,

just a note of caution about using the online inventory:

before we bought ours we were trying to look at colors in person and went around to a couple of different dealers (rockville, hbl). I had also checked the online inventories and saw large numbers of cayennes listed. However, when we went to the dealers, they had much less stock on hand - I think some of the dealers may be listing all of the units they will be getting for the year or over some period of time. It is possible they have now received all of their inventory, but this was not true a couple of months ago.

My dealer inventory on porschedealer.com still lists the Cayenne that I ordered and took delivery of this past Monday. I don't know why it was in a public inventory in the first place. So I guess these inventory listings aren't all that accurate.

The original posting seems consistent with the inventory situation here in Cary NC; every time I drive by the dealer there are more and more Cayennes sitting for sale. 10 at last count.

When you check porschedealer.com and look at inventory, the site lists all inventory in production. Right now, our site lists Cayennes that won't be arriving here for another 2 months.

And if your Cayenne is still listed there, it means the dealership hasn't RDR'd your car yet. Once it's reported as being delivered, it will disappear from the site.

Site note: We have 8 here right now. Five are sold awaiting delivery next week.

I just returned from a trip from Dallas. Boardwalk Porsche has 47 Cayenne's. Looked like 50 or 60 996s and who knows how many Box's! It makes no sense when there are people waiting for delivery, and here they are stockpiled.

Even the smaller dealers in the SF Bay Area seem to have at least a handful of Cayennes. There also seems to be numerous Carreras and a selection of the more appealing Carreras and there's obviously numerous Boxsters. I've noticed the dealers all seem to have one or more of the "nice" cars, the GT2, X50 Turbo or X51 Carrera and the C4S just sitting around with a few more outside in the rain. About the only car I haven't seen is the Targa. I did see an '03 Targa some weeks back, but it was being delivered (and the now standard sports exhaust sounded very good ... almost worthy of comparison to a 993 motor sound package ... but still with a water jacket drowning the cylinders, you don't get to hear the real machine.)
