Probably the same corporate morons came up with "Touareg" name in honor of the Tuareg people in N. Africa. Not sure what role the Tuaregs played in the history of the motor vehicle, but they are now recognized as a terrorist organization that has gained control of many shoulder-launched antiaircraft missiles that were looted from Ghadaffi's arsenal. Gonna be hard for VW to explain THAT name if the group starts shooting down airliners...

But if Macan is indeed pronounced "Machan", I don't see how this car will be popular with comrades, since taking off the "n" makes this word phonetically identical to ....
