Default Heated Seat Not Working

So i have had this problem that the 5amp on the fuse 39 keeps blowing. At first it would blow only 2 times throughout the whole winter. Recently when i turn the car on the fuse blows right away (All the seat heated switches are at 0). I replaced the 5amp and turned the car on and it blows right away again.

Where should i start to troubleshoot? Under the drivers carpet? Remove the drivers seat? Try a 7.5amp or 10amp instead? Thanks!

One of my heated seats stopped working - the passenger's side front seat. I haven't checked the fuse yet. I'll check it tonight.

Sorry I can't offer more insight but don't put in a higher rated fuse, that's asking to release all the smoke bottled up in your wiring. I would be inclined to start looking under the seat for a frayed wire or connection and go from there.

It's highly unlikely that a 5-amp fuse powers the power-robbing electric elements that heat our backsides. There's a good chance that this fuse powers the relay which powers the elements. I would start by checking the relay to see if the contacts have fused or shorted together.

So I found the relay under the dash, I unplugged it, plugged it back in in, replace the 5A fuse and now my heated seats work. Strange, should I replace the relay?

For $5, I would. Eliminate the unknowns.

I might, I just wish I could figure out the exact cause of the issue.

My seatbelt chime for the passenger's seat doesn't work any longer either.

For a relay? Go to VW/Audi. It's *just* a relay. And no, Porsche didn't invent relays.
