Great book, and highly anticipated. Europe will have it about one month earlier from 1st October 2011..

Hey Marc, I don't think the add on turbines will help the P!G.
0-60 times on jet engines is usually pretty poor.
Great for 80 to 200 times though, and for making P!Gs fly.

I will find one with a JATO on the roof

Definitely JATO will do it. Make sure you get lots of structural integrity. It'll rip the car apart
Just grab a few left over Harpoon rocket engines, some sailor knots, and left her rip!

Sounds like someone regretted not ordering the Turbo.

No, I mean really, that's unbelieveable. What was your timing methodology? Were you going downhill? (just kidding.... ) Seriously, I'd never "dog" the V6, and it's hardly a bastard stepchild, but I just don't see how it can be that fast. There's a given amount of weight and only so much horsepower and it's hard to argue with physics.....

BTW, for comparison, the Zero to 60 Times web site tested a 2011 V6 Cayenne at 7.3 seconds which tracks almost exactly with Porsche factory specs.

http://www.zeroto60times.com/Porsche...mph-Times.html

Tiptronic, Sport Mode, PSM OFF.. Level Ground, Near to No Wind, High Temperature, maybe 5 ft above Sea Level, 350lbs cargo (Driver+Pass), 1/2 tank gas.. (no heavy options, sunroof/panoramic/upsized wheels/air susp/etc)

6.2 Seconds was Average...

No regrets in my order of the V6, just curious on the specs because it always feels much quicker than i would expect from the V6, and much quicker than previous model..

I was more interested in how you actually did the timing, what instrumentation was used, how you started the timer, etc. Your times are simply well outside the norm for published factory specs and independent tests on the V6 so you can see where there might be questions about them. BTW, as I'm sure you know, Porsche's performance claims are based on standard vehicles, not ones that are loaded with heavy options, so lighter weight doesn't explain the discrepancy.

No reason why you should have regrets about the V6; it's a great vehicle.

G tech pro along with 2 app's to check if it was accurate...they all were close, no outliers, was on a back road going both directions so wind would have shown itself one way versus other in times but did not..

According to the manufacturer,

X5: weight = 4960 lb, 300 hp, 300 lb ft
0-60 mph = 6.4 sec (8 speed auto)

Cayenne V6: weight = 4475 lb, 300 hp, 295 lb ft
0-60 mph = 7.4 sec (8 speed auto)

I've done some quick back of the envelope calculations...
Your engine would have had to produce ~21GigaWatts...congratulations.

BTW, I would keep it under 88mph.

0-60 mph = 7.1 sec (6 speed manual)

Either someone is lying, or Porsche don't know how to make a truck go fast....

Final drive and transmission ratios affect 0-60 too. I've found numbers for the X5 but not for the Cayenne 8 speed so the jury is out on that. But another factor in addition to torque (what acceleration is all about) is where the engine makes that torque. The Cayenne V6 reaches maximum @3000 rpm while the X5, being a twin turbo is making it's 300 lb ft as low as 1500 rpm on a plateau all the way to 5000 rpm. I think that's part of the difference here.

Porsche is usually conservative with their performance claims so you'd expect a couple of tenths of wiggle room. But 1.2 seconds is a huge difference and at least brings up questions, especially since other testers (except Riley )have confirmed Porsche's times.

How about the weight? 500 lb less than X5.....

Well, I think Porsche did something to the acceleration numbers to sell more V8?
