Bacially, the pecking order is 3rd gen, 1st gen, 2nd gen. All great cars but he would chose the 1st gen over the 2nd gen. He felt that porsche didn't bring their "A" game with the 2nd gen. However they brought their "A+" game with the 3rd gen.

So far, this is contrary to everything that I've heard of so far in my 18 months of Cayenne ownership. I think that either you need a new friend or you should listen to what most people on this forum are telling you.

That's what I'm here for. I'm trying to find out as much information as I can. I'm not saying my friends thoughts are the final word. If you guys disagree, please enlighten me. If the 2nd gens are much improved over the 1st gens. Let me know. I'm all ears. It would be better on my pocket book if my friend is wrong. Thanks

Personally, I like the look of the 1st gen Cayenne better than the 2nd gen. The interiors are pretty much the same. I like the currnet Cayenne the best of all of them.

If a daily driver, make sure you like the ride comfort of a Porsche.

All the known problems that plagued the 1st gens such as cardan shaft, coolant pipes, ignition coils, engine cylinder lining issues causing piston slap, high oil consumption, control arm bushing wear etc...still plague the 2nd gens.
It's just that they have not done as much mileage to be reported as often.
